Maracaibo Oil Brat

Prize-winning author Susan McClurg Berman writes about her experiences as a gawky too-tall preteen suddenly plunged into always-hot Maracaibo during the late 1950s and early 1960s after her father accepted a transfer from Orange, Texas to work in the Venezuelan oil fields. Susan lives with her husband of twenty-eight years, darlin’ Bruce, in a quiet northern California town that one must drive to on purpose as there is no way to get there by accident.
